1. WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are small files or devices that are downloaded and stored on your device (the device you use to access the Platform: computer, mobile phone, tablet or any other connected device) that allow the Platform or website to remember information about your visit.
As outlined in the Cookie Guide published by the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), which you can view here, there are several types of cookies:
Cookies vary according to the entity that administers the equipment or domain sending out the cookies and processes the data the gather, here are the main types:
- First-party cookies: These are cookies that are sent to the user’s computer terminal from a device or a domain administered by the platform publisher, in this case, the entity supplying the service requested by the user.
- Third-party cookies: These are cookies that are sent to the user's device from a device or domain that is not managed by the Platform's publisher, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies. If cookies are installed from a computer or domain managed by TELEFÉRICO, but the information collected through them is managed by a third party, they cannot be considered TELEFÉRICO’s own cookies. TELEFÉRICO may engage the services of tracking and analytics companies that measure and/or analyse user browsing behaviour on the platform and, in doing so, act on its behalf by analysing the data obtained through the use of these third-party cookies, all with the sole purpose of improving the service provided by TELEFÉRICO.
We can distinguish between cookies, according to the purpose for which the data obtained through them is processed, such as:
- Technical cookies: These are cookies that allow the user to browse through the platform and use its different options or services, for example, controlling the traffic and communication of data, identifying the session, accessing website’s restricted areas, keeping record of the elements of a request, filing a request for registration or participation in an event, using security features during navigation, storing content for video or audio diffusion or sharing content through social networks.
- Functional or personalization cookies: These are cookies that allow the User to access a service with some predefined general features based on a series of criteria on the user’s terminal equipment, such as for example, the language, the type of browser or regional settings used to access the service, and more.
- Analytical cookies: These are cookies that allow the company responsible for them to track and analyse the user behaviour on the websites they are lined to. The information collected through this type of cookie is used to measure the activity on the platform to create profiles of the users who browse these websites, applications and web platforms. The aim is to make improvements based on the analysis of user data.
- Advertising cookies: These are cookies that allow the most effective possible management of the advertising spaces that the publisher has included in a website, application or web platform through which the requested service is provided, on the basis of criteria such as the content published or the frequency at which advertisements are displayed.

These cookies store user behaviour information, obtained through the continuous observation of browsing habits, to establish specific profiles and display targeted advertisements tailored to a user’s particular profile.
Depending on the length of time the cookies remain active on the terminal (i.e., their duration), we can distinguish between:
- Session cookies: These cookies are designed to collect and store data while the user is accessing the platform. Session cookies allow a website to recognise the user.

When any of the platforms uses Google Analytics or Google Analytics 4 and you accept the corresponding analytics cookies, you can prevent Google from collecting and using data (cookies and IP address) by downloading and installing the Google Analytics Opt--out Browser Add-on: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/181881?hl=en
TELEFÉRICO DEL PICO DE TEIDE, S.A. uses Google’s Mode (Consent Mode v2) so that users who have given their consent receive personalised ads, whereas users who have rejected cookies have their IP address made anonymous and only an anonymous ping is sent to the analytics tool that performs data modelling and optimises the performance of paid ads.
As a result of the depreciation of third-party Cookies, TELEFÉRICO has implemented the “Enhanced Conversions” feature for its paid Google Ads campaigns, Where, if the User accepts Cookies, certain User data (the purchasing client's email address) will be shared with Google in hashed form using the SHA-256 algorithm. As a result, all information is transmitted in encrypted form, thereby protecting users' privacy. SHA-256 ensures data integrity and can never be reversed to obtain the original data. This helps to respect users privacy.
If a user refuses cookies, they will only be sent an anonymous ping that reports the conversion and does not contain any of the user’s identifiable data or a hashed e-mail.
In terms of anonymity and exercising the right to erase data, data are not stored as such in Google Ads so the Enhanced Conversions function is not affected.
TELEFÉRICO uses its customers' data, like email addresses, to create personalised marketing campaigns through third-party platforms, using the Customer Match feature in Google Ads. This data is encrypted and shared securely (using the SHA-256 encryption algorithm) to ensure user privacy.
